Nihon Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes Trails series is one of my absolute favorite series in gaming right now. An announcement came out today that I was particularly floored by, and that is, we are going to get even more The Legend of Heroes content. This time, one of the original games. The Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch is getting licensed for publishing by publisher NEOWIZ.

Nicknamed the “Singing RPG,” The Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch is known for poetic dialogue, a captivating story, a rich world, and a moving soundtrack that crescendos at pivotal moments.

The White Witch has been cherished by RPG fans worldwide for over 30 years,” said a NEOWIZ representative. “We want to bring a polished experience that recaptures the emotional experience of the original game, while inviting new and old players to immerse themselves in an updated adaptation. With this agreement, we are looking forward to building a strong partnership with Nihon Falcom.”

Leveraging development and publishing experience with console games, NEOWIZ plans to focus on faithfully recreating the original’s authentic narrative and atmosphere for fans of the original and introducing the game to a whole new generation of players.

In 1994, The White Witch was released as the third game in Nihon Falcom’s flagship RPG series The Legend of Heroes, also kicking off the Gagharv Trilogy that encompasses the third, fourth, and fifth games in the same universe. Thanks to expansive worldbuilding and profound narrative, The White Witch continues to be cherished by a dedicated fanbase long after release, and was even ranked first in Nihon Falcom’s 40th-anniversary poll asking fans which titles they would most want to return.

NEOWIZ having licensing rights only gives us information that they will be working on bringing it globally. If it is a remake or a remaster, or even just a port, there is no information on that yet.
