The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Launches This November

The special Zelda 40th anniversary Direct broadcast just wrapped, and a vital piece of information that fans were waiting for has been revealed: the release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. As most expected, this is being primed as the big Christmas release for Nintendo this winter. Mark your calendars for November 5, 2026.

Considering the game came out in November (11.21.98 in Japan and 11.23.98 in the US), you’d think Nintendo might have at least picked one of the original release dates for the remake, but hey, earlier is better than later, we suppose. Ocarina of Time 2026 is a seemingly faithful take on the original with updated visuals, some new mechanics (jumping!), and full voice acting. In the video above, you can watch Aonuma-san playing a good chunk of the intro. Some of the details like the Kokiri stitching on Young Link’s tunic are… a choice, but overall everything is looking pretty good.

And yes, the special Ocarina-themed Switch 2 is real. More on tha tin a bit.
